Two drafts ago the Cleveland Browns drafted quarterback Johnny Manziel amid a took of fanfare thinking he would be their answer long term at the quarterback position.Today, he was shown the door is a five-line press release stating he had been waived by the franchise. It was not a shock whatsoever that he was released, the only drama was possibly that it took this long into the NFL New Year in order to do it, as many felt it was going to happen on Wednesday. It was a two year stint with with the Browns filled with nothing but headlines and controversy, with most of the headlines coming for things he did off the field, not on it.He spent 10 weeks in rehab after his first season with the team, and now a year later is the subject of a grand jury investigation in Dallas after he was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. While he hasn’t been suspended by the NFL, there’s a chance that if he does catch on elsewhere, he may have to spend time away from the team for his off the field behavior. With the release of Manizel the Browns are on the hook for his guaranteed base salaries of $1.169 million in 2016 and $1.004 million in 2017.If he gets picked up off waivers (highly unlikely), that team would assume those guarantees. The salary-cap hit for releasing Manziel by the Browns is $4.33 million. Here’s the official release the Browns put out about Manizel about noon today:The Cleveland Browns have waived QB Johnny Manziel.Manziel appeared in 14 games with eight starts after being selected by the Browns in first round of the 2014 draft. He completed 147 of 258 passes for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 259 rushing yards and one score. Last season, Manziel started six games and threw for 1,500 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions, while adding 230 rushing yards. STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi’s Stefan Moody raced across the court with his red-streaked dreadlocks trailing behind him. He pushed past screens and dodged defenders, sprinting as fast as he could toward the 3-point line.Everyone in the gym knew who was about to shoot the basketball. And there was nothing Mississippi State could do to stop it.Moody scored a season-high 29, including 24 of those on eight 3-pointers, to lead Ole Miss over Mississippi State 71-65 on Thursday night.“He’s a monster athlete,” Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said. “He can get separation on anybody. What’s gotten better with him is he’s accepted his role as our go-to guy.”Ole Miss (18-8, 9-4 Southeastern Conference) won for just the second time in 17 years at Humphrey Coliseum and swept the season series against its in-state rival for the first time since 1998.Moody had his most impressive stretch during an 82-second run late in the second half. The 5-foot-9 junior hit three straight 3-pointers from essentially the same spot on the floor, giving the Rebels some offense when the Bulldogs were trying to make a run.“Any time you play your rival team at (their) home they’re going to be up for the game and knock down more shots,” Moody said. “We just had to battle through it.”Mississippi State (12-14, 5-8) could never recover. Craig Sword led the Bulldogs with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Gavin Ware scored 13 and Travis Daniels added 12.Mississippi State dominated throughout much of the first half, leading by 10 at one point before settling for a 32-27 halftime advantage.Daniels led the Bulldogs with 10 points in the opening half, including a vicious one-handed jam over M.J. Rhett that jolted the Humphrey Coliseum crowd to its feet.Ole Miss recovered quickly, stunning the Bulldogs with a 17-4 run to open the second half to take a 44-36 lead. The outburst was punctuated by a deep 3-pointer from Moody, who hit it from several feet behind the line. But history shows Mississippi State has a huge advantage in Starkville and the Rebels couldn’t pull away, even with Moody dropping 3-pointers from all over the court. Moody shot 8 of 12 from 3-point range and 5 of 6 on free throws.Mississippi State stayed close until the final minute. Sword said the Bulldogs could have made better choices on their final offensive plays, but didn’t attack.“We could’ve gotten to the paint any time we wanted to do, but we were settling for jumpers,” Sword said.Ole Miss didn’t clinch the win until Moody hit two free throws with 14 seconds left to make it a two-possession game.Ole Miss shot 50 percent from the field (16 of 32) in the second half to win its fourth straight on the road. It’s another big victory for the Rebels, who appear to be closing on a second NCAA tournament bid in three seasons.“I think our team has passed the eye test — it has,” Kennedy said. “Now our numbers have to make sense. That’s why this game was so important, to keep our numbers moving forward.”_____TIP-INSMississippi State: The Bulldogs had a 24-11 rebounding advantage during the first half. … Mississippi State has already won more SEC games this season than in the first two years of coach Rick Ray’s tenure. On Thursday, it was believed the Serie A side could reach out once more ‘in the next few days’ to see if Spurs would be willing to do a deal, and now, Il Tempo reckon it could be ‘in the coming hours’.Of course, both those things are interchangeable, since the next 48 hours could be seen as either coming days or hours, but the choice of words suggests a bit more urgency. However, instead of directly contacting Daniel Levy and co., Roma would instead get in touch with the Belgian’s father, who is described as the one ‘dealing with the negotiations in person, alongside the family’s lawyer and an Italian agent’.Embed from Getty ImagesThere’s a brief mention that Alderweireld could end up ‘in a swap’ for either Nicolo Zaniolo or Alessandro Florenzi, but a move for either seems rather difficult right now. It’s said ‘contacts are intensifying’ regarding the centre-back, and that suggests we could get a bit more news over the weekend. In the meantime, Alderweireld is currently with Tottenham on their pre-season tour in Singapore, where they will face Juventus on Sunday.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameBuild a Beautiful City and Play With Your FriendsForge of Empires – Free Online GameUndo聽多多 Hearmore.asia1969年前出生的香港居民現可免費試戴頂尖的歐洲助聽器聽多多 Hearmore.asiaUndoRaid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadEven Non-Gamers Are Obsessed With This RPG Game (It’s Worth Installing!)Raid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadUndoKeto减肥1個簡單的妙招一夜「融化」腹部贅肉（今晚試試）Keto减肥UndoSmart Tech TrendSelf Adjusting Glasses Take Hong Kong by StormSmart Tech TrendUndoSingles50Hong Kong: A 40+ Dating Site That Actually Works!Singles50UndoLoans | Search AdsNeed a loan?
