Moore led UWF to an 88-70 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith, netting 16 points and grabbing a game-high eight rebounds in 32 minutes. The Coolidge, GA native saved his best for last as the Argonauts nearly upset No. 24 Arkansas Tech, 89-85. Moore led all players with 28 points, 17 rebounds and seven assists in 36 minutes. He set a season-high for points in a game and a career-best effort on the boards.MATHIS GOES PERFECTUWF senior Marquis Mathis had a perfect night from the field during the Argo’s 88-70 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith. Mathis went 11-of-11 from the field, tying an NCAA record as well as a school record. Mathis is the first Argo to go perfect from the field after attempting more than nine shots.FIRST DECEMBER LOSSUWF’s loss to No. 24 Arkansas Tech was the first loss for the Argos in the month of December for both the men’s and women’s teams. The Argos were 2-0 until losing to the Wonder Boys this month while the women remain perfect at 3-0.GEARING UP FOR THE GSCThis weekend’s UWF Christmas Classic will wrap up the non-conference portion of the Argo’s schedule. Starting on Jan. 5, West Florida will kick off GSC play with Christian Brothers. UNO is the only remaining game on the schedule that will not count towards the Argo’s GSC record.LAST TIME VS. first_imgThe annual FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup 2018 has revealed some bright talents named in the competition All-Star team.After claiming her second FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup MVP award since 2013, American-Angolan Italee Lucas earned a spot in the All-Star Five line-up.She was joined by Jamila Nansikombi (KPA), First Bank Basketball’s duo of Ginette Mfutila and Aisha Mohamed and Ferroviario de Maputo’s Anabela Cossa.With averages of 17 points per game and some incredible performances, Lucas led InterClube to the second-place.Mfutila, a DR Congo international, increased her trophies cabinet with the tournament top rebounder award.With two double-doubles, Mfutila inspired the Nigerian champions to the Third-Place, finishing the tournament with an average of eleven boards per game.Mohamed arrived in Maputo after helping her country make a splash at FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup last September, where the Nigerians became the first African country to reach the Quarter-Finals.She was instrumental for First Bank Basketball finishing with important 12 points and nine rebounds in five games.Meanwhile, Uganda’s Nansikombi was a delight to watch as the 21-year-old led all players in scoring with 17 points per contest.Home fans headed to the Maxaquene Gymnasium hoping to witness something special.The host club not only became the first Mozambican club to win the competition for the first time since 2012, but local fans had the opportunity of watching Anabella Cossa being named in the All-Star Five team.Cossa claimed the award for the best three-pointer in the competition.Relatedlast_img read more
